Scope and Contents
From the Series:
Series I includes documentation of activities undertaken by James Bertram relating to his duties as Andrew Carnegie's confidential secretary and as Secretary for the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The series is divided into seven sub-series: libraries, church organ application, archaeology, correspondence, Board of Trustees: Bertram Memorial Minutes, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous. The Correspondence section is extensive and is separated into sub-sub-series by correspondent. Note that within this series of business correspondence is a sub-sub-series of personal letters from Bertram to his family written while on a business trip.
